GIZELLE

“Lay back and chill with me for a lil’ while,” Waka said, catching me by surprise. Without objecting, I climbed my lil’ hot ass further onto the bed, next to him, and laid back. The silence was way too awkward, and my heart rate sped up by the second. It was so quiet in the room, I felt like he could hear my heart beating through my chest. I was glad it wasn’t as loud as it felt.

I watched as Waka closed his eyes and breathed calmly. I figured he was tired because he had yawned at least six times since I’d been in his room. Y’all know I was all nervous and shit, and I really didn’t know what to do or what to say, so I just laid there and listened to him as he breathed softly. I was so nervous about being laid up next to Waka in his bed that chills started attacking my entire body.

“Can I talk to you ’bout some real shit?” Waka asked with his eyes still closed.

“Sure.”

“There’s this lil’ chick I’m feeling, right? I mean, I ain’t no relationship type of nigga, true enough, but I just love her energy and shit. Like, whenever I’m around her, it’s like nothing else matter. She fun to be around, and that’s all we do is trip out and laugh whenever we together. The only thing is, I’on really know if I should shoot my shot or not ’cause I’on really know if she feel the same way. Feel me?”

Instantly, I became jealous as fuck. There I was thinking he was about to talk to me about some other shit, but he wanted to talk about him feeling some chick I could care less about.

“Well, I mean, you’ll never know unless you go for it, right?” I said, acting as if I really wanted to help set him up with the next bitch.

“Yeah, you got a point there,” he yawned.

“Soooo, who is this mystery girl you’re feeling all of a sudden?”

“Come on, G. Don’t act like you don’t know.”

“Ugh… I don’t. If I did, I wouldn’t be asking.”

“Take a wild guess.” He grinned with his eyes still closed.

“Ummm…” I tried to think. “I really don’t even know where to start. Waka, do you know how many girls live in Cuthbert and go to Randolph? It could be anybody.”

“A’ight, I’ll give you a few hints.”

“Okay, cool.”

“She’s a lil’ younger than me. I met her awhile back, and the first day I saw her, I knew I wanted to fuck with her, but I couldn’t cause I be having so much shit goin’ on. She got the prettiest caramel-colored skin I’ve ever seen in my life, and she got a nice lil’ shape on her. She’s smart, and goofy as hell, man,” he chuckled. “She got a lil’ fat ass on her, too.”

Jealousy raged through me. It was hard listening to my crush say all these nice things about another female. It wasn’t his fault, though, because he had no idea I liked him.
